Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] grassyneal who passed this along to me in another venue, VH1Classic is having a Passover Special called Matzoh and Metal featuring Jewish icons of the Heavy Metal scene swapping stories.

I will actually be at a congregational seder that night, and nowhere near a TV with cable, so I will miss it, but it seems amusing for those Jews (and gentiles) nostalgic for their headbanger days.

Oh, and Level_Head, I suspect you would, in many ways, find a kindred spirit in [livejournal.com profile] grassyneal .

It sounds interesting. And, I suspect, rather different from the "Fiddler on the Roof" play I just attended this Sunday. Alas, I never was a headbanger. ];-)

You know [livejournal.com profile] grassyneal from another place, obviously. I welcome contact, and hope that your suspicions are correct.

Interesting. Up until this point, the only metal player who I knew was Jewish was Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater.

[Dee Snider] also has a new Halloween-themed music project called Van Helsing's Curse, described as "Trans-Siberian Orchestra for the Halloween season."

Somehow it's kind of interesting that Dee Snider knows about a proggy metal outfit like Trans-Siberian Orchestra aka Savatage. Then again, he was one of the first champions of Queensryche when they were new on the scene. (I'm not a Q-ryche fan per se but they do have their arty moments.)

Still I'll never forgive him for campaigning for Arnold Musclehead. :P

It wasn't that obscure. It was the first single from Come Out and Play, their follow-up album to Stay Hungry which provided the hits that article talks about. Allan and I both liked it a lot at the time. The funny thing about Come Out and Play was a song called "Be Chrool to Your Scuel", which featured performances by Clarence Clemons, Alice Cooper, Brian Setzer and Billy Joel! That was actually kind of a cool song, really.

P.S. Comments need an "edit" function. Just sayin'. <:/

Aw man, I really wish we still had cable at my mom's house.

Or that I could afford cable.

I miss VH1.
