1) I've created a home for my political cartoons on the web, sifting through my livejournal to find them is cumbersome. Layout is not ready for prime time. When I'm happy with it technically, I will furnish a link.
2) I'm planning a few changes to the automation software that drives Cat-Tharsis and "Ranting and Raving," as the Political Cartoon site is called. My goal is to add a routine that allows me to provide supplemental HTML to cartoons as I see fit.
3) Autumn is here. Autumn makes me happy. I am happy. I have done a fair bit of house cleaning, always a nice prerequisite for winter.
4) Grendel has been battling the same crud he had 6 months ago, and I have been dreading another $1500.00 vet bill. However, a boost in his Prednisone dosage (from weekly to daily) seems to have helped. He is drinking, eating, and grooming again. I think threatening him with the prospect of getting subcutaeous Ringers' solution for a month may have, ah, incentivized him to feel better.

morgan1. I'll do a more detailed Ikea entry later, but for now, Ikea customers should bear in mind that an "inspection area" is supplied at the pickup location, and should be utilized. We found some broken wheels in the drawer-glides, but decide the trek back to Bloomington was not worth the trouble.
6) Grand Marnier truffles are good.

Other People's Magic
Date: 2004-09-27 01:20 pm (UTC)Ah, no. Only HaNozri uses Autofox, and that only because it's the HRF house-standard. I wouldn't mess with Tegeran's code because then there would be all kinds of versioning issues and stuff would get ugly. ;)
Cat-Tharsis runs on a PHP script I wrote from the ground up about 2 years ago, that I call PHP ComicSite. Each page is generated dynamically because Cat-Tharsis lives in an environment where disk-space is at a greater premium than processing time, as opposed to Autofox which generates static pages. I suspect that processing time is at the greater premium on HRF, so I use Autofox there out of respect for your Skype fidelity ;)
Incidentally, Morgan and I hope to have a new page up on Hanozri in a week or so - a combination of medical emergencies slowed her down considerably this past month.

Date: 2004-09-27 09:19 pm (UTC)If you'd rather use PHP on HN, feel free to do so, as I run Skype off my laptop, not the HRF server.
You're correct on the CPU vs. storage situation: PIII 1GHz and 55GB of free disk space for 3 users tilts the equation to static. I've had some really crummy experiences (*cough*Keenspace*cough)with DHTML, which prejudice's me against DHTML web sites. It's not a logically defensible opinion at all, just a memory of frustation... :)

Date: 2004-09-28 05:19 pm (UTC)ASIDE: Back in the day, one of my middle school friends decided to give his best friend a $300 gift certificate to the Honey Baked Ham Factory. For his barmitzvah. ^^

Date: 2004-09-28 05:29 pm (UTC)As for the $300.00 gift certificate to HBH, well, they DO have turkey and, I think, roast beef there too.
So, what do you think, if they genetically engineer a pig that chews its cud, would it be kosher?

Date: 2004-09-29 12:38 pm (UTC)As for the pig... I'm not as familiar with kosher definitions as you. What is the kashrut's take on abominations of nature?
