This year I actually put some thought into the roof. I created a roof-frame that is sturdy, assembles with no tools, and will be reusable next year. Morgan cut lilacs for the roof. General lighting is coming from two 100-string sets of, um, holiday lights.
And I know just exactly where Cuchulainn is. He is under the cocktail table with a washcloth. And Grendel is in the kitchen. And we will be able to enjoy our Sukkah this year, without blaming it for the loss of a cat (because really, the cat was to blame for that.)
We are planning to sing "The Cat Came Back" among our Shabbat songs.
For those of you wondering why I would obsess about my cat's location on Sukkot, I refer you to this entry from Sukkot last year. You can read the end of the story here. (Don't worry, it's a happy ending, but we will think of the period from Erev Sukkot to Rosh Chodesh Kislev as "the fast of Cuchulainn."
