I saw that. I wish I could share your optimism, but if too many of us were to indulge in that luxury, I am afraid said optimism would lose its justification.

Horsemanure, my friend. Do you think that in my optimism I am not working to make certain that it is true? The pessimists weaken us from within while we are assaulted from without, and since they are not the enemy, showing that they ARE pessimists will keep the country together.

This must be done gently -- there are mean-spirited folks on both sides, and they do not help.

Ironically, optimism is something I'm regularly accused of.
I've been having a hard time finding it just lately, but I'm looking for it.

Seems like it should go on a bit longer, like five pages' worth or so of essay. But maybe we need more short ones like that to reach out to the impatient readers. They're less likely to be on the bandwagon by now, I imagine.
