Like I said I was gonna.

[livejournal.com profile] morgan1 cast the first vote in our district.

I feel fairly confident, but don't want to tempt fate by hoping. We're HUNGRY for this win -- hungrier than the Republicans it seems -- a Poll Challenger from the DFL (MN Democrats) was there before the one from the GOP could be bothered to show up. May the GOP be as complacent across the board.

I will actually be leaving shortly to work for the local Democratic Party in the Get Out the Vote effort. I'm no fan of the local people, but I want to see Kerry win. It would be a catastrophe if he lost New Jersey, after everything in all the more "swing" states.

The fact that they're paying me $75 for 6 and a half hours of work has nothing to do with it whatsoever, of course. ;)

As I wrote previously, I early voted on Friday. On my way home I intend to drive by my usual polls just to see how long the line is and kind of scope out whether it looks like anything questionable is going on. I meant to drive by this morning but I sort of spaced it out.

I did drive by the early polling place downtown on my way home yesterday just to see and the line was maybe 1/3 longer than it was on Friday. They are saying that 20% of the eligible voters in the state had already voted by this morning.

I didn't go see Kerry on Sunday. The reason, other than I hate crowds, was that it was Halloween and I had to answer the door. I was a bit pissed off when we had a total of maybe 10 rings on the doorbell. Maybe I should have gone but somebody who did said he couldn't get anywhere near it because of the crowd. I probably would have had to get there 5 hours early just to be able to see Kerry, so it's just as well.
