From the New York Times:

But what clearly got CBS's attention were statements from Colonel Killian's secretary, quoted in various news accounts on Wednesday, that while she had typed documents similar in tone and content to those in CBS's possession, she did not believe the ones it had were authentic.

"There are strange contradictions," Mr. Heyward said. "We have Knox saying the content is accurate, but the documents aren't real. We need to get to the bottom of that."

What better way to discredit the truth than to make it appear a forgery?

The jury is still out, of course, and likely will never return a useful verdict. But I do find this to be a very interesting turn of events.

Claim that it slept with Monica Lewinsky.

She typed, as she confirmed to Dan Rather, exactly the same information, including the memos incriminating LtCol Killian and implicating as an active reg-breaker the man who had retired from the ANG about a year and a half before.

She has sat by for five years while reporters scoured every one they could think of for information damaging to Mr. Bush -- and she's despised him this entire time. It JUST NOW OCCURRED to her that these things were said?

Oh, and did she type exactly this, demanding that Bush report for his physical in May instead of July?

Is it just barely possible that her memory of the events has benefitted from some coaching by Mr. Rather and crew?

A few credibility problems there.

And why, in a goverment that throws NO records away, cannot the ones she purportedly typed be uncovered? A boatload of neutral to favorable ones have.
