Newshounds Fan Art: A Moth Unto The Flame

Looking at the third panel of this Newshounds strip caused me to imagine Renata singing "Falling in Love Again" from Josef von Sternberg's 1930 film The Blue Angel. I reworked the lyrics a bit to suit Renata's particular situation.





This started out life as a little pencil sketch at work, because the idea wouldn't let me rest. When I got home, I executed it on Bristol with a PITT brush pen and some Staedtler tech-pens.

I was a bit more off-model with Hal than I would have liked - I restrained myself a bit too much with his glasses. But it was good practice for the shading.

BTW I loved this weeks Manifestations. Especially stuff like "Glaxo-Sunflower-Smith-Kline" and badger badger badger. Is it you or Thomas that decides what goes on those backgrounds?

Thank you. :) I made up all the background stuff myself - just nonsense-headlines etc or vaguely code-looking stuff or 1001010110s, stuff out of my head or random keytappings, nothing to do with the story. Just scenery, really, and the odd very minor joke and pop-culture reference (somewhere there's a 2 among the 010101s, after Bender's nightmare in Futurama, but it's probably not visible.)
