Linuxy Goodness
May. 11th, 2005 10:42 pmSpent the evening tweaking the notebook to get everything just the way I want it and I think I'm pretty much there. A source of minor irritation with the RH9 systems I have built in the past has, I think been solve. I've had problems with linux boxen hanging right after mounting SMB Shares on boot. Today I think I got to the bottom of it. In the smb.conf, Domain Master was set to yes by default. This has been causing it to lock horns with the NT 3.51 Advanced Server box that handles my domain authentication. Changed that setting as I was configuring this machine, and it has not hung on SMB Mount. So that's one mystery solved. I've gotten NFS going too for file sharing between the two Linux boxen, and everyone down here has a VNC Server and Client running. I can touch any machine from the comfort of my easy chair.
So this machine is now ready to do some writing on. Now, if only my brain were . . .
