Today I noticed that my length-of-service bonus was posted to my account. I had earmarked it for a Notebook, but, since I scored at Computer Renaissance a few weeks ago, that was no longer a pressing need. I did however need new tires for the Saturn and I've been promising myself a decent digital camera for ages. So today, at lunch, I took "Blossom" up to Costco for new tires, and while they were installing the tires, I wandered the store. I found that they had an Olympus Stylus 410, 400 MegaPixels for 199.00. I bought it. I've been quite happy with it. Win2K mounts it as a USB Mass Storage device so I haven't even bothered with installing the software - no need to goop up my PC with their crapola. So I'm basically delighted. The Camera itself is the digital air of the Stylus Epic, a 35mm camera that I have loved well. But it was necessary to go digital because I have too much undeveloped film sitting around. And I have been having fun with the camera - quite impressive is the fact that that the battery came with a charge, so I could use it right out of the box.
And here's Blossom in her new shoes:
